The details of business activities being undertaken by Himfed
are :
Fertilizers
:
We have been undertaking the
procurement and distribution of chemical fertilizers since ,1981-82 in Himachal
Pradesh through two-tier fertilizer distribution system comprising of Himfed
as wholesaler and primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies as retailers.
We are distributing following
kinds of fertilizer through our network of wholesale depots.

All kinds of fertilizers
are being sold through each retail outlet on fixed uniform retail sales
rate and the State Government is providing cost subsidy on some fertilizers
which is passed on to the farmers through Himfed as per detail given below:-

Besides this the State
Government is providing 100% transportation subsidy on all fertilizers
except UREA 46% from Himfed godown to the retail outlets.
Organic
Manure:
In addition
to the chemical fertilizers, we are also marketing Organic Manure and
Bio Fertilizers.
Market Intervention Scheme : Since 1996-1997,
HIMFED is implementing Market Intervention Scheme in respect of fruits
like Apple, Mango and citrus for rendering market support to farmers as
and when decided by the state and the Government of India. Procurement
price of Rs.4.25/- per kg was fixed for apples during the year 2005-2006.
Packing Material :
We arrange supply of packing material for fruits such as carton, trays
etc. from AIPIL and other private manufacturers at reasonable rates to
the growers at their doorsteps.
BOTTLING PLANT : We had constructed
a Bottling Plant with a block cost of Rs. 1.16 Crores at Parwanoo in Solan
District, since 1994-1995 for manufacture of Country Liquor brand - Himfed
No..1" and IMFL brands - "Himachal Queen whisky" and "Himachal
Queen XXX Rum". The Plant is currently under lease with HPGIC since
May 2006.
SERVO
TREE SPRAY OIL: We have the agencies of Indian
Oil Corporation for the sale of their products in the state.
TMT-BARS & GC/ GP Sheets :
We have obtained the retail dealership of Steel
Authority of India Ltd.(SAIL) for sale of TMT-Bars & GC/ GP Sheets
in Shimla, Solan, Bilaspur & Mandi Districts of Himachal Pradesh.
Import
of FELCO Pruning Secateurs / Shears : We are
the dealers of M/S FELCO Switzerland for the sale of their product FELCO
5 and FELCO 7.
Other Items/Activities
Typewriters:
We have the agencies of following companies to market their products in
HP: -
a) Facit Typewriters.
b) Godrej Products(Typewriters, Furniture & Fixture etc.)
Insurance:
We have recently signed up an agreement with Iffco Tokio General Insurance
Company Ltd. to work as service franchisee for General Insurance Business
in Himachal Pradesh.
